Choice Cancer Care is teaming up with Top Chefs to Create Cancer Fighting Recipes
Choice Cancer Care, an independent, physician-owned cancer center in North Texas is teaming up with the top chefs in their area who are going to create and share their cancer fighting recipes. These chefs are all set to make Cancer Fighting Recipes using cancer preventative ingredients to help the body fight getting cancer. These new recipes can help the patients of Choice Care Center as well as their friends and family create great tasting meals with the added benefit of cancer fighting ingredients.
The latest recipe comes from Chef Melody Fitzgerald the culinary genius behind Southern Breeze Market Café. She got her start as the pastry chef at The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, where she worked under the direction of James Wagner and Dean Fearing. Inspired by the Fitzgeralds’ favorite restaurants along the Carolina coast, Southern Breeze does market fare with low-country flair, offering timeless southern cuisine that is made from scratch with only premium ingredients.
With strawberries at their best, try her Chopped Strawberry and Romaine Salad Recipe:
- 1 head of romaine lettuce
- 1 ½ cup quartered fresh strawberries
- 1/3 cup sunflower seeds without shells
- ½ red bell pepper and ½ yellow bell pepper
- Strawberry Viniagrette
Chop romaine into 1/8 inch strips. Dice red and yellow bell peppers into small diced pieces. Toss with sunflower seeds and drizzle with Strawberry Vinaigrette.
- 1 cup fresh strawberries
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 tsp salt
Blend all ingredients except olive oil in a blender until smooth. Slowly add olive oil while blending until fully incorporated.
